Mind Games

6 July - 6 August 2024
Opening Reception
Thursday, July 11, 7 - 9 PM

The group exhibition "Mind Games" was curated to reflect the concept of positively influencing and controlling another person's feelings through art. Each artist in the exhibition approached this theme uniquely, guiding viewers in novel ways to experience their work.

Scott Cumberland: Known for his vibrant abstract works, Scott utilizes what he refers to as 'ribbons' in his paintings. These elements, while seemingly whimsical, are purposeful, adding a sense of playfulness and musicality to his pieces. The ribbons invite viewers to engage with the artwork on a sensory level, almost hearing music as they immerse themselves in the visual experience.

Chanel DesRoches: Having recently completed her MFA, Chanel uses her canvases to take viewers on a journey. Her explorations are personal and introspective, inviting the audience to travel with her through her artistic process and discoveries.

Julian Forrest: Julian challenges his viewers to embrace change and development in his art. Known for his fictional characters and past themes of masculinity, the wild west and space exploration, the wild west and masculinity, he now invites viewers to explore new landscapes within his work. Themes of disconnectedness, alienation, the elusive nature of memory, and a general sense of being under siege while finding refuge in strange quarters.

Allan Thomas: Allan's paintings in this exhibition focus on street scenes and back alleys, forcing the viewer to stop and explore the beauty of what lies behind buildings. His attention to detail captures the essence of real-life characters and habits, presenting them through realism.

Together, these artists create a dynamic and multifaceted exhibition, each piece designed to engage the viewer's emotions and perceptions in unique ways.
