We have had the great pleasure of exhibiting David’s work for the last 20 years. The current exhibition, ‘Revisiting’, aims to showcase a series of paintings executed during that time frame. Mountains, trees, and water are all focal points of Alexander’s practice. The series of ‘wet’ paintings are of particular interest. As a son of a tugboat operator, Alexander’s life-long love of water surfaces and the interaction of the sky, landscape, and ‘litter’ on their reflective surfaces. Mountain and forest images dramatically portray his love of the outdoors, rockface images focus on the forms that compose the mountain, not just how pretty they are. Alexander varies the format of each work, vertical, horizontal, and wide panoramic scenes that evoke not just what mountains look like, but more importantly what it feels like to be on them, both physically and emotionally. We hope you enjoy the exhibition.
